JOB SUMMARY

 

The job of the LDE is to fill a specific short term role for a school. Responsibilities vary with individual assignment, but typically include student supervision and maintaining safety, behavior, decorum, and order in all of the common areas of the school.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNTIONS

  • Supervise students in a specific area.
  • Provide subject matter expertise.
  • Follow and support building, department and district policies and procedures.
  • Encourage and model expected behavior.
  • Anticipate problem behaviors in order to minimize and deescalate aggressive behavior of students who are acting out.
  • Build relationships with children and redirect with authority when needed.
  • Circulate within an assigned supervision area, as well as facilitate and direct activities in a positive way.
  • Assist in maintaining safety, behavior, decorum, and order.
  • Work cooperatively and respectfully with all members of the school community.
  • Communicate effectively with a variety of audiences a timely and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and respect for diversity among all members of the school/department or district community.
  • Report to assigned duty areas promptly and reliably.  
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge and experience of the specific role.
  • Ability to create an environment that is positive for students.
  • Ability to work consistently and to contribute in a positive way.
  • Skilled in communicating effectively with all staff, students, and as a team member, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work with students in a warm and confident manner.
  • Knowledge of student safety rules and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
