POSITION:              SUBSTITUTE COOK - NUTRITION SERVICES

 

JOB SUMMARY: The candidate will work under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager and Assistant Kitchen Manager.  Within this general framework, specific duties will vary. 

The applicant must be willing and capable of learning to perform the following, with or without reasonable accommodation:

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Ensure that customers are able to move through lines and serving areas expeditiously.
  • Be accurate in all PowerLunch transactions.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, healthful environment in the lunchroom area.
  • Assist other food and nutrition related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager and Assistant Kitchen Manager.
    • Prepare all food items as directed.
    • Operate kitchen equipment as instructed.
    • Assist other employees in food preparation and baking tasks.
      • Wash utensils, pots, and pans.
      • Clean tables and carts.
        • Store left-over food as directed.
        • Prepare serving carts for service; fill salt and pepper and napkin utensils.
        • Prepare serving carts/lines where necessary.
        • Perform other duties as assigned. 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Knowledge of, or the desire to learn, and ability to apply basic child nutrition guidelines and requirements. 
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff and parents in oral and written form.
  • Adapt readily to a varied routine in a calm, positive, flexible manner.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Maintain confidentiality and display ethical behavior.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a WA State Food Handler’s Permit.
    • Must have ability to get along with students, co-workers, and building staff.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated ability to be physically capable of carrying approximately 30 lbs. a minimum of 10 feet.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to serve food across serving area.
  • Ability to perceive the nature of sound, have near and far vision, depth perception, ability to provide oral information and the manual dexterity to operate keyboards and computers are important aspects of this job.

3.   Minimum of 3 dated Letters of Recommendation (current within 3 years).

4.   After your initial screeningif selected, you will be instructed to come by the District Office to complete your paperwork.  Completion of packet, to include Fingerprint clearance and copy of current Food Handler’s Permit, must be done prior to start of work.  All selected candidates must be Board Approved.

   

Verification of identity and United States work authorization must be completed before employment commences. The successful candidate for this position must be fingerprinted. Employment is contingent upon clearance by the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
