JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN (Temporary)

 

Buildings and Grounds Department

8 hours per day/Schedule TBD

75 Days

 

Job Summary:

The Journeyman Electrician will be required to perform a variety of journey level duties in the electrical field including but not limited to: evaluate, operate, maintain, trouble shoot, estimate, plan design and implement projects in the electrical field.  In order to meet the District needs, the electrical technicians may be called upon to assist other District maintenance personnel with other tasks as directed by the Director of Buildings and Grounds.

 

Essential Duties:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma and/or GED equivalent.
  2. A current Washington State Journey Electrician License (EL01) is required, as well as having completed a recognized apprenticeship or equivalent and three years journey level experience.
  3. Must have a valid driver’s license. CDL preferred.  Must have the ability to acquire a CDL in the event job responsibilities require one in the future.
  4. Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lift devices.
  5. Must possess the ability to lift, push, and pull weights in excess of 50 pounds.
  6. Ability to work in close restricted locations.
  7. Willingness to respond to emergency calls.
  8. Cooperative and willing attitude toward helping others. Must be willing to work in a team environment outside of his/her qualified field to assist other persons as needed.
  9. Ability to take and carry out directions with minimum supervision.
  10. Asbestos Workers card preferred or willing to obtain the card.
  11. Relates positively to youth and adults of varying socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

A person working in this position is will work in a variety of work environments both inside and outside with occasional exposure to inclement weather. The Position requires continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting of more than 50 pounds and carrying.  This person may be required to work in restricted spaces, from a prone position, and/or under difficult lighting and access conditions. Noise level may be high when operating power equipment. Employee is required to properly use such safety equipment as is appropriate to the work to prevent injury to self or others.

The salary range for the position is: Step 1 $33.87 – Step 6 $36.04.   New employees may be credited for previous relevant experience within the job description, with initial step placement up to step 6.

 

Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for Benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability.  Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months over a 12-month period are eligible for Retirement through the State Department of Retirement Services.
