Substitute Paraeducator

  

JOB SUMMARY

The job of instructional para educator is done for the purpose of providing assistance to classroom teachers. Responsibilities vary with individual assignment, but typically include tutoring students, providing small and large group instructions, and implementing behavior management systems. This position requires working with students with varied disabilities (mild to severe learning, behavioral, emotional, and physical disabilities). To remain on our active substitute list, substitutes will need to have had a minimum of 4 assignments per month before the last day of school. Likewise, subs who are inactive for more than 30 consecutive days may be released from the Mead substitute position.

A person working in this position will exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally while carrying, pushing, and/or pulling to move objects. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unaided and may lift over 50 pounds with the assistance of another person and/or a lift assist. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit; some stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching; and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or ordinary infectious diseases carried by students.

The Salary Range for the paraeducator is Min $17.75 – Max $19.25 per hour. Substitutes will accrue 1 hour of sick leave for every 40 hours worked.  Substitutes who work 630 hours will become benefit eligible for the remainder of the school year.  Standard benefits include: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability.
