Campus Security Officer

8 hours per day

202 Day Position (190 Work Days +12 Holidays)

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Security/Safety Officers are responsible for the overall safety and security of the school.  The Security/Safety Officer plays a critical role in the school’s culture and climate.  Security/Safety Officers actively engage in supporting students in order for them to be successful in the classroom and school community.  The role of a Security/Safety officer is physically demanding as they are the first line of defense to defuse and de-escalate student misconduct and/or serious incidents and must respond urgently.

Must have the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, key a two-way radio, operate a keyboard, and use a lock and key; hear and understand speech at normal levels; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; articulate information in an emergency situation; use physical agility and strength to defend self and detain persons using force if necessary, and have the visual acuity necessary to observe and comprehend student movement

 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND SALARY:

The salary range for the position: Min $36.76 per hour – Max $41.40 per hour.     Salary placement will be at step 1 on the appropriate scale for the position.  Previous relevant experience may result in higher step placement within the posted range.

 

 Employees working less than 260 days will receive holiday pay for the scheduled holidays within the months worked.  Each employee shall accumulate twelve (12) days of sick leave per year. An employee employed less than full-time shall be entitled to a proportionate part of the sick leave allowance.  A maximum of three (3) days of annual leave are provided for all employees based on the employee’s scheduled employment hours per day to be used for an absence during work hours.  Unused Annual Leave is cashed out every July. 

 

Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for Benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability.  Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months over a 12-month period are eligible for Retirement through the State Department of Retirement Services.
